"Heritage" grains and legumes here, are landrace and non-proprietary modern grain and legume varieties. Modern varieties are crosses released after 1880 and more than 25 years ago and are generally non-proprietary. However care should be taken to check whether chosen modern varieties are proprietary, in which case they cannot be classified as "heritage "grains and legumes.
